| Customer Reviews: Well, This is Definately A Rabbit Foot On A Keychain! July 7, 2010 R. Williams (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Occasionally, human beings take it upon themselves to usher archaic traditions and practices into modern society. This usually has a religions connotation associated with it... we cross our fingers and spray salt over our shoulders in order to keep the Devil at a distance. We say "bless you!" when someone sneezes. I have a friend who still 'crosses' himself when he is driving past his local church.
Rabbit's Feet haven't got any religious significance- but they are still remnants of an ancient culture and society. The Celts would award their young hunters with the feet of their trapped rodents as a sign of passage into adulthood. The hunters would incorporate these talismans into their dress, and add to them as time went by and they matured and were able to capture larger prey.
Somehow, it got translated into a "lucky" charm. And the tradition of having a rabbit's foot around has endured to this day.
Well, folks... this product is most definitely a severed rabbit's foot that has been preserved, and attached to a bead-chain!
I ordered this because it was needed as a prop for a theatrical project. I went with this particular style and type because it was:
1. Cheap
2. Natural-colored
3. A 2-pack
The little feet are preserved, the fur doesn't come off in tufts, and the metal has remained firmly attached to the animals' foot.
We certainly could get into a discussion about the humane and ethical elements in play here... but that has nothing to do with the product itself, which would exist anyway (and has existed in totemic form for longer than anyone can rightly figure).
Well done, People Who Make This Thing! You certainly have achieved what you set out to do!
real buni feet April 9, 2010 R. Meadows (calif) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love these feet, obviously real and not dyed. Beautiful clean white, and you can feel the outline of the foot. I got a straight soft one and a curved soft one. They have beige-white underfoot colour, obviously real. Soft and shiny pure white top fur. Good quality and real, not phoney ones. Happy with this purchase.
